Katherine Engagement Centre is situated in Katherine Town. It is to be a Flexible Learning Centre for disengaged and at risk teenagers in the Katherine area.  This is a new initiative with exciting possibilities and opportunities to establish a successful and sustainable alternative education model in the Northern Territory.

Successful applicants will demonstrate high levels of ability in developing and implementing a range of flexible learning choices which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of young people disenfranchised from education and social connectedness.  You will have highly developed interpersonal skills in the context of relating to work colleagues, young people, parents and community members in a cross-cultural environment.  In particular, demonstrated success in building relationships with disenfranchised young people who may display extremely challenging behaviours.

The confidence to influence and lead change and an understanding of national, local and political agendas, along with up to date knowledge of current research in the field of flexible learning, is essential. Innovative thinking, continuous self-reflection and desire for professional growth along with highly developed emotional intelligence, will ensure you can successfully lead a team tasked with establishing an inclusive, culturally appropriate educational option for young people.
